During the spring of 2015, Colorado Clivia Company's collection of Clivia miniata were in bloom. Peak blooming, as in the past, was about March 1st. Presented below and to the left are some of the best photographs for this season. Several are of the same plant, showing different views, color and blossom changes over time, or other aspects of the collection. The photographs are presented for the enjoyment of our visitors.
Many of the photos are of Clivia grown from seed. The variety name will reflect the genetic history or seed label name. Like many Clivia seeds, there are always surprises when the plant finally blooms. That is half of the fun. Just because the label implies the plant will be a yellow and it looks orange to you--do not have your vision checked or write us to say we made a labeling mistake. That is just the hidden genetics of the parents coming through. And since almost all of the collection is not "line bred", there is more diversity than what you will see in your local garden center.
If you are interested in purchasing a division from one of the plants in the gallery, please send us an email expressing your interest and include the plant number. Colorado Clivia maintains wait lists on all plants. If you are on the wait list, you will be contacted when a particular division becomes available. Since it may take several years before that happens, please have patience. Colorado Clivia also trades pollen and you can contact us via email for that as well.
